“Dance For Me” – when a disco beat with an indie guitar makes out in an Irish club and has ordered two shots too many. Watch now on YouTube!
Dance for me is here!
The song is the first single from the upcoming album. It combines Celtic punk with genre-typical instrumentation, a sing-along chorus and EDM borrowings. This break is a novelty in the genre and builds a bridge to the clubs of the 2020s.
Fittingly, a music video was shot by Flo Berwanger (videographer of Electric Callboy). Special is a choreographed dance, matching the lyrics in the C-part, à la “Mambo No.5” or “Cha-Cha-Slide”. This is also a complete novelty in the punk sister genre of classic Irish folk.
“Dance for Me” is the first song with Paddy Maguire
“It’s always a tightrope dance when you try new elements in your genre and there will always be people who ask if it’s still punk rock. The only answer is: HELL YEAH! See you in the mosh pit at the choero,” says singer Paddy Maguire. “Dance For Me” is the first single on which he can be heard as the new singer of the Paddyhats.
