IRISH – FOLK – PUNK!
We are a seven-piece band from Gevelsberg who have been passionately exporting our love of Irish music to the world since 2011.
Starting out as a duo, Dwight and Sean began playing in small barns and pubs as “The O’Reillys”, while a little later mutual friends joined them as the “Paddyhats” and turned the duo into a band. The result was “The O’Reillys and the Padyhats” as a band name, which has been misspelled so many times but has always been remembered – and not just because of the name. Our Irish Folk Punk creates an exuberant atmosphere everywhere, be it at club shows or festivals – a huge party is guaranteed! Our music combines concentrated energy and traditional folk with modern punk garb, resulting in a unique symbiosis that is transferred to the audience from the very first second. With a statistical probability of 99%, no shirt stays dry with us. And watch out! There may be a slight delay in serving beer as the bar staff are busy dancing. Even the security can’t keep their toes still here when the urgent feeling of swinging hips spreads from the pit to the back row. We are grateful to be able to play at legendary festivals like the Wacken Open Air and the Mighty Sounds Festival and to be able to prove time and again what we are made of. Over 140 million views on YouTube, almost 300,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and several album chart positions give us the incentive to carry our love of music further and further out into the world and share it with everyone. For us, playing live is what Irish Folk Punk is all about: being close to the audience, celebrating our passion for Irish music together, telling stories about life through our songs and then sharing and toasting with each other. We look forward to the upcoming shows with you – dancing, singing and celebrating life together! Make it our shared experience, which you will tell your grandchildren about as the “good old days”! So get off the couch and create memories for eternity with us!

Press release: “Coming Home”
‘Longest way round is the shortest way home. – James Joyce, Ulysses.
No matter where you feel at home in the world, in the pub next door, with your loved ones in your arms or far away from where you grew up: The O’Reillys and the Paddyhats provide you with the soundtrack with their new album ‘Coming Home’. A fascinating fusion of traditional Irish folk and modern punk that goes straight to the heart, because 1000 calendars don’t lie: ‘Home is where your heart is’. This band has long since established itself as one of the most exciting and powerful formations in the European Celtic punk scene and with their latest work they once again pay homage to the Emerald Isle as a home of the heart with its multi-faceted history, as suitably diverse as the band itself: Characterized by travelling to faraway places, always united despite crises and always in search of the next pint. Produced by Jörg Umbreit (Die Toten Hosen, In Extremo, Fiddler’s Green), who has shaped an entire era in the scene with his unmistakable sound, the album was created over several months in the Principal Studios near Münster. From rousing party anthems to profound ballads and energetic punk rock tracks, ‘Coming Home’ is an album that tells stories – of home, of solidarity and of the freedom to go your own way. It is an invitation and a promise: Come on a journey with the Paddyhats and you’ll feel the rhythm of Irish folk punk in every green
