Band presentation Pott of Gold 2025: Ochmoneks
About the Ochmoneks
It is with great anticipation that we introduce you to the Ochmoneks Band, who will be performing at the Pott of Gold Open Air 2025. This talented band promises an energetic performance that will thrill the audience. Their unique punk rock/eutschrock leaves no one cold. If you are looking for a band with passion and dedication on stage, the Ochmoneks are the right choice. We are excited to see what they will present to us on our Pott of Gold!
Who are the Ochmoneks?
The Ochmoneks are also a fictional family from the US sitcom “ALF”, played by actors John LaMotta and Liz Sheridan. They are the neighbors of the Tanner family and in some ways resemble the Bundy neighbors from “Married… with Children”. The Ochmoneks are also conservative and have a stuffy attitude, which leads to many comical situations with Alf, an alien who lives with the Tanners. The Ochmoneks are often annoyed by Alf’s pranks, and their attempts to expose him usually end in chaos. Despite their differences, however, the Ochmoneks and the Tanners have built up a certain neighborly relationship, which is repeatedly put to the test by Alf’s antics over the course of the series.
But that’s not what this is about, of course. Although this stuffy American suburban family does have something to do with the band. The Ochmoneks are a German rock band from Düsseldorf that was founded in 2015. Their name is an homage to the bourgeois neighbors of the Tanners from the TV series Alf, which was playing in the next room during a rehearsal. The band members are not originally from Düsseldorf, but moved to the city for work.
Musical style and songs by Ochmoneks
Influences and genre
The Ochmoneks are musically rooted in punk rock. Due to their origins, the band is often compared to the Toten Hosen, especially with their style of the 1980s. However, the musicians themselves see this parallel rather critically. In terms of content, their songs revolve around themes such as partying, love and friendship, but also their attachment to Fortuna Düsseldorf or to family, as in Dein Stolzer Sohn. With songs such as Vollidiot des Monats and In diesem wunderschönen Land, they also take a clear stance against right-wing extremism and xenophobia.
